2012
PTA Auction
iPads, interactive classroom Smart Boards, additional instructional books, laptop computers and supplemental funds for ASFS students in need—these are examples of the items generously funded last year by the ASFS community through funds raised at the annual school auction.
Please join fellow parents, school staff and community members for the 2012 “Around the World” Auction. This year’s event will be held Saturday, March 10th from 6:30 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. at the National Rural Electric Cooperative Association located at 4301 Wilson Blvd. The goal of the evening is to raise money for ASFS school-related projects and items through parent and community participation and donations. The night is a great opportunity to meet parents, teachers and school administrators while enjoying a (childless) evening out.
ASFS is a recognized leader in education. History shows the ASFS community is also a leader in supporting school-related needs at the annual auction. Here’s how it works: items and services donated by parents, staff and the business community are auctioned off at the March 10th event. Bidding takes place during the first part of the evening via a silent auction. Once the silent auction tables close the live auction begins. All proceeds are transferred to the PTA financial account. In the subsequent weeks parents and school staff are encouraged to submit funding justifications for school-related items (like those mentioned above). After review by the PTA’s leadership, proposals are openly discussed and voted on at the May PTA meeting. Money is then released and spent on approved items. While some auction money is typically set-aside in the emergency reserve account, the majority of the funds are directly spent on school-related items that benefit our students.
A dedicated group of volunteers is working hard on organizing and executing the event, yet the evening’s success depends on your help. Spend big, spend small, or just come to enjoy yourself--your attendance at the auction is critical to its success. Bring your spouse, bring a friend, bring other adult family members! To make it easier to attend, childcare will be provided at ASFS the night of the event. We are also asking families to consider donating at least one item to the auction. A Family Donation Form is attached for this purpose. Those interested in volunteering either the night of the auction or on the work leading up to the event should contact Latonya McGowan (latonyamc@yahoo.com) or Brandi Bhojwani (branbhoj@gmail.com). Business Donation Form Thank you for your help…. now, come to the Auction!!! |
